Another month down, another step closer to my plan for world domination! It's your host and friend, Andy here, and I'll fill you in on the last few joyous weeks here in Neu Anspach!
So - last time we spoke, I was gonna be seeing Nid n Timo and Sam n Adam. These are done now, and this is what happened...
Nid n Timo
The morning drink at the station. Check out the glasses.
She's Scottish, he's German. That's two of the countries that drink the heaviest in the world! (this is me using my 100% correct facts here). So, before lunch, we had us some Flederwein at the train station. This is pre midday too. Nothing like a morning drink.
the Great German White Water Dear. Count the legs....
Traditional German dancing.
So after some train faffing around, we made our way over to Wiesbaden, and those of you who paid attention to my last post will know exactly what was happening in Wiesbaden. A FEST! This one involved some cars, some food stalls, and the usual stuff. Had me a currywurst (just sausage sliced up and covered in curry sauce [but not like you'd get on an actual curry of course!]). Sat around, drank some more, and saw us some Samba Band ladies.
We bummed round Wiesbaden for a bit (pretty place), then went on some water powered tram thingy up a hill. There's probably a technical term, but I don't know it, and if you want to know it - go google "Water powered hill tram thingy". Got us some nice views over the town, and enjoyed the sunshine somewhat.
In the evening we went back to Neu Anspach, with the trains once again letting us down somewhat, then went to a drinky evening at the local football club. Got pleasantly drunk, but due to extreme cold getting everywhere, never quite got into the swing of the night, although t'was great to see King Timo and Nid again.
Sam n Adam
Frankfurt
Kebabshipshop. An obvious name I thought.
As well as that, we had a good old look around Frankfurt, and discovered some touristy stuff that any future visitors will be sure to see too. As a side note - the Germans seem to enjoy taking modes of transport, and adding food or drink in a most unsual way. There's beer bikes, ridden by 8 or 10 people all drinking beers, there's the Ebbelwei Express, a tram tour of the city accompanied by apple wine, and we found us the Kebab boat. A kebab take-away, BOAT.
Sam n Adam then went off to Cologne for a few days, and we all met up on the Thursday for a visit up the Main tower (we got us a skyline!), and had a nice meal where Sam finally got to try handkäse, a smelly German cheese, that comes "mit Musik", which is named because you're likely to fart a lot afterwards. Nice hey?
So that be's my visitors and the jolly japes I've been having there. That's not to say normal life's not grand too - the German's coming on well, and I held a full conversation with an auntie of Maja's, in German, for the first time on Friday. Everything's slowly getting a lot easier and nicer now! The job hunt's getting a bit more desperate now, as in 2 weeks time, the course will be finished and I'll be home, with NO JOB! So I'm gonna get a move on with that this week.
Getting excited all the time about Christmas here - can't wait to get the tree, get the Santa collection out, generally make Maja's life a misery by being overexcited all the time! Roll on Christmas!!!! Anyone wants to get out here in December, we got us some crackin markets!
Oh yeah, and look out for the words DNS - they're everywhere here, but you don't know it until someone (me) points it out to you!
Tschüss!! (That's seeya! in German)
Nice to hear what you are getting up to and enjoying life. Can think of a few things there that would be nice to do when I come over again.
